China’s largest telco Huawei has struck a three-year premium sponsor and official mobile partnership deal with Serie A giants AC Milan.
As part of the deal, Huawei also acquires the rights to use AC Milan’s logo and player images for Huawei’s communication and promotional activities in Italy and Asia.
The football club, one of the most popular in Asia, also believes that the deal will give them greater access to fans in Asia, particularly China.
As Huawei continues making its mark in international markets, it has leveraged on major football tie-ups to build its brand awareness, which includes similar deals with Bundesliga’s Borussia Dortmund and Spain’s La Liga.
In a bid to combat negative publicity in its domestic market, the telco had also previously sponsored the 2011’s Super Cup match between AC Milan and Inter Milan in Bejing.
