Major golf sponsor HSBC has commented on the conflict between rival Asian golf tours the Asian Tour and OneAsia saying that the major sponsor of golf in the region is keen to stay above the fracas.
Since the arrival of OneAsia in 2009, tournaments have moved between it and the Asian Tour and players have sought court action to avoid sanctions for playing on rival tours.
HSBC Head of Sponsorship, Giles Morgan told media organisation Reuters that HSBC is keen to see a clear hierarchy for golf in Asia as there exists so much potential to grow the sport.
"In this part of the world it hasn't always been politically plain sailing in golf. We sit above it, so that is not an issue for us," Morgan said.
