Metlife likes global appeal of World Baseball Classic

US life insurance company, Metlife Inc has become a global sponsor of the World Baseball Classic.

It is the first significant baseball sponsorship for Metlife and according to a spokesperson from the company, it was attracted to the sponsorship because of the global nature of the event.

The company will heavily leverage in Japan through the use of the MetLife’s Snoopy-themed blimps that will provide video coverage of the games.

The spokesperson also confirmed that Metlife will purchase significant television commercial spots during the broadcast of the series.

The company joins Delta Air Lines, video game company Konami Corp and travel company Brand USA as major sponsors of the global competition.
