Indian teleco, Aircel has announced that it will end its naming rights sponsorship of the Chennai Open tennis tournament at the conclusion of their year’s series.

News reports say that the company questioned the value of the sponsorship and that the departure of the major sponsor could result in the even relocating to another country, possibly Turkey or China.

The event is run by the Tamil Nadu Tennis Association in conjunction with sports marketing company IMG and Reliance Industries.  The agreement between the tennis association and IMG expires at the end of this year and unless another major sponsor is found some say IMG will exit the partnership.
